Open Records Requests

Information concerning the Texas Public Information Act may be found at the Texas Attorney General’s Open Government Section. We also include a public posting of your rights regarding open records law in Texas.

The main requirement to submit an open records request is that it must be submitted in writing. The Collin County Medical Examiner's Office has posted an online public information request form for your convenience.

Previous AG Determination

The Attorney General previously ruled that the autopsy report for deceased Austin Metcalf may be withheld under the Public Information Act, and such ruling constitutes a “previous determination” as defined by Texas Government Code section 552.301(a).

Unless the underlying law, facts, or circumstances have changed since that ruling, the governmental body may continue to withhold the records without requesting a new AG opinion.
