Commissioners' Court Board/Committee Briefs

Collin County Child Protective Services Board

Meets fourth Monday each month, 6:00 pm, Children's Advocacy Center.

To provide an ongoing program for the protection, care and well-being of dependent, neglected and abused children of Collin County. Members work through and with the cooperation of the Texas Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Division, to encourage, engage, promote and participate in activities that will benefit all children of the county.


Health Care Foundation Advisory Board

Meets first Thursday every other month, 12:00 pm, location varies.

To assist the Board of Trustees and Collin County in the development and provision of health care and related programs for its indigent citizens; to guide, support, and nurture efforts that will enhance the quality and availability of health care services for the citizens of the county.


Historical Commission

Meets once a month. Day, time, and location vary.

To initiate and conduct programs and activities as may be suggested by the Commissioners' Court or Texas Historical Commission for preservation of the historical heritage of the county; to mark, interpret, preserve and accumulate information on the history of Collin County.


Mental Health and Retardation Board

Meets fourth Thursday each month, 7:00 pm. Alternates: The Alma Center, Plano; McKinney MHMR Administrative Offices; and MR Services, Allen.

To provide countywide, comprehensive mental health and mental retardation services and programs to citizens of the county through cooperative efforts of the Texas Department of Human Services. Members must have expertise in health related fields. Collin County M.H.M.R. Center exists for the purpose of offering services to restore, improve, and maintain an optimum level of functioning and quality of life for county residents who are mentally ill and/or mentally retarded.


Park Foundation Advisory Board

Meets second Thursday each month, 5:30 pm, Collin County Health Care Annex, Engineering Conference Room.

To guide, support and nurture efforts to create and maintain a comprehensive open space program. The board establishes direction and policies for acquisition, development and management of park and open space areas and facilities.


Planning Board

Meets first Thursday each month, 7:00 pm, Collin County Health Care Annex, Engineering Conference Room.

To advise and make recommendations to Commissioners' Court on planning issues and efforts relative to the future quality and growth of the county. Working committees are formed to identify needs and develop programs for transportation, water and waste water, solid waste management, ambulance service, and others as needed.


Myers Park & Event Center Advisory Board

Meets fourth Tuesday of January, April, July & October, 7:30 am, Myers Park Reception Hall.

To advise and recommend actions to Collin County Commissioners Court relating to the promotion, management, welfare and success of Myers Park & Event Center. The use of the park for education and recreation purposes as described in the Deeds of Trust granted by the Myers Family shall be the foremost responsibility of the Advisory Board.
