GIS plays an important role in emergency response. After extreme events, such as storms, data collected in the field with handheld GPS units can quickly be mapped to help aid in emergency assessment and response. This map shows dwelling units in Wylie that where damaged by a tornado last spring, as reported by the Wylie Fire Department.
