Hand Washing Awareness Week

December 4-10, 2005 is Hand Washing Awareness Week!

Hand washing is one of the easiest ways to prevent illness. To help keep your household healthy, follow these simple rules:

  1. Wash your hands when they are dirty (after using the restroom, coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose, etc.) and before eating.
  2. Do not cough or sneeze into your hands. This results in the build up of germs on your hands that can then be spread to other people or objects you touch. Cough or sneeze into a tissue or handkerchief, if possible, or use the back of your sleeve.
  3. Keep your hands away from your mouth, nose and eyes. These areas provide easy access for the transfer of germs from your hands into your body.
