Latest Traffic Alerts from TxDOT for Collin County
Collin County has quite a few ongoing construction projects, especially around the U.S. 75 (Central Expressway) corridor. Many of these won’t be complete for a few more years, so we wanted to post the latest notices of temporary lane closures, detours and such as these big projects unfold.
So you know, the Texas Department of Transportation folks also post these on their local
Twitter page. Additionally, you can look at the big picture on
Collin County projects here, if you want to know the projected finish dates for Farm-to-Market roads or state and U.S. highways, or simply head over to
current traffic conditions for the DFW area to avoid snarls in the region. Then, there’s Drive Texas, a web app (with a mobile version) that will give you real-time traffic updates on lane closures, accidents, weather conditions and more. For here, though, we’ll stick to just posting the latest notifications that would affect local cities and towns that come in from TxDOT and the North Texas Tollway Authority.
The following closures are scheduled for the President George Bush Turnpike:
Friday, Nov. 20, and Saturday,
Nov. 21 (Overnights)
left lane from Coit Road to the Dallas North Tollway will be closed from
10 to 11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, and Saturday, Nov. 21.
westbound left lanes from Coit Road to the DNT will be closed overnight from
11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, and overnight from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.
southbound U.S. 75 entrance ramp, just south of McDermott Drive in Allen, was closed
permanently Monday, Sept. 28, as part of the U.S. 75 widening project —
from six to eight lanes. A new exit ramp will be constructed in
the coming months, a new entrance ramp onto southbound U.S. 75 will be added
further south, between Bethany Drive and McDermott Drive. In the meantime,
motorists will need to continue along the southbound frontage road and use the
current entrance ramp just south of Bethany.
