4 Cans of Fruit = 1 Flu Shot
Our Health Care Services department
has a limited amount of flu vaccine available to the general public for
just a few cans of fruit. For a donation of four or more cans of fruit
for a local food pantry, county residents can get an adult or pediatric
dose of flu vaccine.
Flu cases are beginning to increase, and the Department
of State Health Services and the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention encourage people to get flu shots
as late as January to not only protect themselves, but the rest of the
community.
So in the spirit of doing their part to help limit the wheezing, aching,
hacking and general flu misery, Collin County Health Care Services workers
are accepting donations of canned fruit as payment for flu shots from
Tuesday, Jan. 22 through Friday Feb. 1. The countys immunization
clinic has approximately 400 doses available for adults and 1,500 pediatric
doses.
The clinic is at 825 N. Mc Donald St. in McKinney, and is open from 8-11
a.m. and 1-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. It stays open until 5:30 p.m.
each Tuesday. For more information, call the clinic at 972-548-5500.
