Collin County Jail Continues to Set Records
This year marks the twenty-first consecutive
year that the Collin County Detention Facility has successfully
passed the state mandated jail inspection conducted from
June 23-26, 2008. Inspectors Fred St. Amant and Jackie Semmler
of the Texas Commission on Jail Standards were on site to
meticulously evaluate the jail facilities for compliance
with the adopted jail standards policy as set forth by
the TCJS.
Sheriff Terry Box is proud to announce
that both inspectors had nothing but praise for the Collin
County Detention Facility, staff, and employees. So much so
that the Collin County Detention Facility has been selected
by the TCJS to serve as a model for other jails in the state
to emulate.
County Commissioner Joe Jaynes attended
the briefing with Sheriff Box and TCJS Inspectors St. Amant
& Semmler on June 26, 2008, during which the results of the
inspection were announced. At the briefing, a Certificate
of Compliance was presented to Sheriff Terry Box for achieving
twenty-one consecutive years of compliance.
Sheriff Box stated, “I am thankful to all
Detention employees for the hard work and dedication it takes
to make this facility run smoothly and efficiently every day.
I credit the entire Detention Facility staff under the direction
of Chief Deputy Rick Allen and Assistant Chief Deputy Randy Clark
for the efficient operation of one of the finest jail facilities
which continuously sets records in the State of Texas.”
