Tips and Advice to Help Jurors Find the Right Courts
The
old Collin County courthouse near downtown isn't nearly as popular as
it was before the state District Courts moved to Bloomdale Road and U.S.
75 this summer.
But some jurors still drive to downtown McKinney when they need to report
to our University Drive Courts Facility. And some show up at the old courthouse
on McDonald when they need to go to the new courthouse on Bloomdale.
We've also received reports from jurors that -- after plotting our new
courthouse address into very popular map search engines and on-board GPS
devices -- they're getting directions to the wrong place. We tested three
popular online map sites with our new courthouse address, 2100 Bloomdale
Rd, in McKinney: two sent us to the right place, but the road was mislabeled.
The third (and most popular of the services) sent us to the old location
of the Bloomdale Community, about two miles west of the courthouse.
We won't gloat or point fingers at any mapping service
(and we're working on convincing these services to update their databases)
but we assure you our own mapping department - Geographic
Information Services - has the right maps for all
county building locations and won't steer you wrong.
Our Jury Services
clerks offer the following advice on making your civic duty go as smooth
as possible:
- Know that jurors can be summoned to one of two large court facilities
for State
District and County
Court at Law courts - and, five other sub-courthouses for justice
of the peace courts.
- Make sure you read your summons carefully for when and where you
need to report.
- Log on to our eJuror service.
This free, electronic service not only clues you into where to serve,
but how to file for one-time deferments (postponements), fill out a
mandatory questionnaire, or track your status if you've been put on
call. eJuror also includes links to maps and directions for where you
need to report.
