Get
ready to Run for Cover April 19th
Run for Cover, a benefit family run/walk event for Collin County's only
emergency shelter for the homeless, starts at 8 a.m. April 19th at Stonebridge
Ranch in McKinney.
All profits from 1k Family Run/Walk - plus 5- and 10-k
runs on a USATF sanctioned course - will go to help keep The
Samaritan Inn up and running this year.
In 2007, 634 people stayed at The Samaritan Inn, and 120 of them were
children.
It takes $37 per person, per day to provide food, shelter, training, children's
programs and case management services at The Samaritan Inn.
A suggested minimum donation of $15 for individuals and $30 for families
is requested. Organizers hope to raise about $75,000 to help bolster the
shelter's 2008 operating budget.
Additional donations to The Samaritan Inn will also
be accepted either with a race registration or at the race. Runners or
walkers can register
now online or, for more information, participant registration and
sponsor forms are available at the McKinney
Fellowship Bible Church.
The race begins at 8 a.m. at the Stonebridge Ranch Beach
Club, 6203
Virginia Parkway, in McKinney. Check-in will start at 7:15 a.m.
