Teddy
Bear Trot to Coincide with Annual Motorcycle Ride for Children's Benefit
Collin
County Children's Advocacy Center is inviting motorcycle riders and
roadside joggers to join forces Nov. 4 for their annual effort to collect
teddy bears to give to kids who come through the center's doors to tell
the stories of their abuse.
For 15 years, hundreds -- some years thousands -- of motorcycle riders
make a special ride from McKinney to the CCCAC in east Plano with an all
important passenger: a donated Teddy Bear. The bears offer comfort to
the children as they begin the process of telling investigators and caseworkers
about the abuse and neglect they've had to endure in their young lives.
Now, for those who can't rev up their engines for the
Teddy
Bear Ride, there's the 5K
Teddy Bear Trot - from Plano's Bob Woodruff Park to the CCCAC. Officials
plan to time both events so that bikers and runners will show up at the
center simultaneously.
For pre-registration information, ride and run starting
points and any other information on the events, please go to www.cacplano.org,
or contact Melody
Boatwright at 972-633-6602.
