The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute have released their annual
County Health Rankings. Nearly every county in the country is ranked on health
outcomes (how healthy we are) and on health factors (how healthy we can be). Once again, Collin County has been ranked first overall, and first in both outcomes and factors, for Texas counties.
Examples of specific measures used to calculate the rankings for health outcomes are length of life and quality of life. Rankings for health factors are based on measures such as: adult smoking, obesity, binge drinking, access to primary care physicians, rates of high school graduation, rates of violent crime, air pollution levels, unemployment rates and number of children living in poverty.
This information and the rankings helps counties see where they are doing well and where improvement is needed to ensure that every community can become a healthy place to live, learn, work and play. Collin County Ranked #1 overall out of 241 counties in Texas.
