Collin County Adult Clinic and Plano Children’s Medical Clinic to receive grant funding
(McKinney, TX) - Collin County will present the Collin County Adult Clinic and the Plano Children’s Medical Clinic with $50,000 each. The Commissioners’ Court, acting as Trustees of the Health Trust, voted unanimously today to approve the Health Care Foundation Advisory Board’s recommendation to appropriate these funds.
According to Collin County Commissioner Phyllis Cole, this is the first year in which the county has offered $100,000 in grant funding to health-oriented non-profit and not-for-profit organizations. “Each year, the county receives many requests from various community groups asking for financial assistance. That’s why the Commissioners’ Court decided to create this grant program.”
"We are pleased that we were able to fund two very worthy projects,” explains Collin County Health Care Foundation Advisory Board Chairwoman Terri L. Hagan. “The $50,000 provided the Collin County Adult Clinic will assist the Clinic in providing low-cost or no-cost medical care to Collin County adults who are otherwise unable to afford medical care. The $50,000 awarded the Plano Children's Medical Clinic will primarily insure that Collin County children are immunized and have access to basic medical care, regardless of their financial resources. The Board was very impressed with the leadership and successes of both programs."
A portion of the funding will be applied to the children’s clinic to provide a mobile van to take care of children and senior adults. The van will offer basic preventative services such as blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol checks. The grant will also help the adult clinic, which is open every Thursday to individuals 18 years and older with no insurance. The clinic provides basic and prescription care.
The Commissioners’ Court congratulates these entities on providing residents
of Collin County with well-managed organizations.
