Altoga water outage update
(McKinney, TX) - Residents in certain areas of Collin County remain without water or significant water pressure after a well pump at the Altoga Water Supply Corporation went out at 6 p.m. last night. About 170 homes and 550 people are affected. Most of the Altoga water customers live in unincorporated areas outside of north McKinney, New Hope, Princeton, Melissa and Altoga.
The North Collin Water Supply Corporation allowed Collin County tanker trucks to obtain water from fire hydrants in the Oak Meadow subdivision, and the organization is working with the Altoga Water Supply Corporation to make an emergency connection to their system. Once the connection is made, crews will be able to supply water to the storage tanks.
Once Altoga customers begin receiving water, they need to boil it vigorously for two minutes. This needs to continue until residents are notified otherwise. It is unclear at this time as to when residents will receive full water service.
Altoga customers can obtain drinking water at Dunn Memorial Baptist Church from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., courtesy of the Dallas Home and Garden Show. The church is located on FM 1827, north of New Hope.
