County GIS Department develops redistricting maps; Elections Administration finalizing precinct changes

(McKinney, TX) – Collin County’s Information Technology, Geographic Information Services and Elections departments are aggressively preparing for the March primary election in the wake of congressional redistricting. Earlier this week, a federal panel in Austin upheld the validity of plan 1374C enacted by the Texas legislature on October 12, 2003, which changed some districts in Texas.

Hard copy and interactive maps of all precincts and districts in Collin County are now available on the county’s website for download.

“We wanted to provide an easy way for residents to view the new precinct changes,” says G.I.S. Administrator Tim Nolan. “We have been working with our web team to place maps on the website that are easy to print or view.”

Collin County Elections Administrator Sharon Rowe and her staff are also updating their database.

“We are in the final stages of precinct changes in the voter registration database. These changes reflect conformance to the state’s new congressional plan, 1374C,” says Rowe. “New voter registration certificates will be placed in the mail soon.”

Printable maps as well as interactive maps are available on the county’s website at: http://www.collincountytx.gov/commissioners_court/redistricting.jsp or visit the main page of the website at www.collincountytx.gov.
