Lisa Ann Diaz Capital Murder Cases

After carefully reviewing all of the available evidence in the murders of Briana and Kamryn Diaz, the Collin County District Attorney's Office has concluded that it will not seek the death penalty against their mother, Lisa Ann Diaz.

It is our policy to seek the death penalty in only those cases where it is absolutely necessary. We will continue to do so whenever the facts dictate it. In these two cases, however, we believe that life sentences will best serve the interests of justice and protect the safety of the community. We are ready to pursue capital murder convictions against Ms. Diaz. If convicted of capital murder, Ms. Diaz will receive an automatic life sentence that requires her to serve a minimum of 40 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole.

Due to ethical guidelines, we cannot comment further on our decision or the evidence in this case. We will reserve our future statements for the courtroom.
