National Crime Victims Week recognized in Collin County

(McKinney, TX) – The Commissioners Court has proclaimed April 18-24 as Collin County, Texas’ Crime Victims’ Week.

For 24 years, the U.S. has observed this week to recognize the needs and rights of crime victims and survivors. Collin County is joining communities throughout the nation to honor crime victims and those who serve them during this week and throughout the year.

On April 21st, Collin County Sheriff Terry Box will honor the Collin County Crime Victims Council and the Metroplex Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) by publicly proclaiming the week. The proclamation will be at 8:30 a.m. on the east courthouse steps of 210 S. McDonald Street in McKinney.

The Collin County Crime Victims Council is comprised of representatives from social service agencies, police departments and the district attorney’s office. The Metroplex Chapter of MADD recently opened two new offices. One is located at 120 S. Central Expressway, Suite 121 in McKinney. And, a satellite office is at 520 Central Parkway East, #211 in Plano.
