Early voting in Collin County begins October 18th

(McKinney, TX) -- Early voting for the November 2nd, 2004, General and Special Elections will begin on October 18, 2004 and end on October 29, 2004. The polls will open at 8 a.m. and remain open until 5 p.m.

Extended hours are on Saturday, October 23, 2004 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Sunday, October 24, 2004 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and on Monday, October 25 through Friday, October 29, 2004 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The deadline to register to vote for this election is October 4, 2004. Statutory law dictates that all registered voters in Collin County may vote early in person without a designated reason.

Important Note: Eligible Collin County registered voters (with an effective date of registration on or before November 2, 2004) may vote at any of the above early voting locations.

Registered voters who are physically disabled, 65 years of age or older, or those voters who will be absent from the county during the entire early voting period and election day, November 2, 2004 are eligible to vote early by mail. To vote early by mail, a voter may complete an application for a ballot by mail or include information required in an informal letter and send it to the Early Voting Clerk, 2010 Redbud Blvd., Ste. 102, McKinney, Texas 75069, requesting a ballot. The letter must include the reason for voting early, the address where the ballot can be mailed, and the voter's signature.

The deadline for mailing ballots is October 26, 2004. To be counted, the voted ballot must be received by the Elections Administration Office by 7 p.m., November 2nd, 2004. Late rules apply only to ballots being mailed from outside the country.
