Collin County Chief Appellate Prosecutor announces "Confessions"
(McKinney, TX) – Collin County’s chief appellate prosecutor John Stride has unveiled his first book, "Confessions."
Published by the Texas District and Counties Attorneys Association (TDCAA), the book is aimed at prosecutors, defense attorneys, judges, law students, police officers, and others interested in Texas confession law.
Stride, who served on the TDCAA Publications Committee, has spent the last several years working on the book. John Rolater, the current chairperson of the committee and deputy chief of the appellate division of the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, wrote the final two chapters of the book.
“It’s designed as a one-stop source that any practitioner can turn to,” says Stride. “It covers the proper procedures for obtaining statements and using them at trial.”
Stride, who was born in England, left school at 16 to work on farms and spent several years in Australia. Seven years later, he returned to school to obtain a law degree in England. He later earned a law degree from Southern Methodist University. After spending 10 years in the appellate division of the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, he joined the Collin County District Attorney’s Office to create the county’s appellate division in 2000.
He and his wife, Cindy, have an eight-year-old son, Austin.
