Dr. Melissa Cahill appointed Collin County CSCD Director; Glen Johnstone retires
(McKinney, TX) – Dr. Melissa Cahill has been appointed director of the Collin County Community Supervision and Corrections Department. She replaces Glen Johnstone, who is retiring after 30 years of service
“I am excited about stepping into this position,” says Dr. Cahill. “I grew up in Richardson and am pleased to return to my home county. Mr. Johnstone has been a great steward of the department, and I look forward to continuing his hard work.”
Dr. Cahill is a licensed psychologist and certified community supervision officer. Prior to her appointment, Dr. Cahill was the chief psychologist at the Dallas County CSCD, where she worked as part of the executive management team and was responsible for coordinating treatment services for the more than 50,000 offenders on community supervision.
Dr. Cahill also works as a consultant for the National Institute of Corrections, providing technical assistance to various jurisdictions including the states of Iowa and Missouri, as well as the federal probation system. She is a member of the board of directors for the American Probation and Parole Association, as well as a member of the National Association of Probation Executives, the American Psychological Association, the American Psychology and Law Society and the Texas Probation Association.
She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology, completed a postdoctoral fellowship in substance abuse, and is currently completing her Master’s degree in Business Administration.
