Collin County Health Care Services receives additional flu vaccine
(McKinney, TX) – Collin County Health Care Services has received additional flu vaccine and will begin administering vaccinations for all persons in at-risk categories beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, December 14th.
The health department will provide more than 500 doses on a first come, first serve basis. Approximately 430 doses of vaccine will be distributed to clinics, physicians’ offices, hospitals and geriatric treatment and residential facilities throughout the county who provide care to high-risk individuals.
Flu vaccination clinics will be held weekdays at the county health department, 825 N. McDonald Street in McKinney. The vaccinations will be given from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. daily.
The cost for adult vaccine is $20. Cash, checks and Medicaid are accepted. The cost of the children’s vaccine is based on a sliding scale fee, but the amount will not exceed $14 per dose. Chip will be accepted.
The children’s vaccine is also available during regular clinic vaccination hours.
At-risk populations include: infants between the ages of six and 23 months, adults over the age of 65 and persons, persons with underlying chronic medical conditions, women who will be pregnant during the flu season, residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities, children on chronic aspirin therapy, health care workers with direct patient care and out- of-home caregivers and household contacts of children under the age of six.
