Collin County residents invited to second outer loop study public meeting

(McKinney, TX) – The Collin County Commissioners Court has initiated a study to prepare for the county’s next major outer-loop thoroughfare. The Collin County Outer Loop Study, to develop consensus on a corridor to preserve for the future Collin County Outer Loop from U.S. 75 to the Rockwall County line, is now in progress. Public involvement has been and continues to be an important part of the study process. Collin County residents are invited to attend a second Public Meeting to learn more about the study and to share their thoughts.

A Public Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2005 in the Cafetorium of Farmersville High School, 499 Highway 78N, in Farmersville. An open house will begin at 6:30 p.m., and the public meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.

“We had a very successful meeting in Melissa back in February,” said Collin County Commissioner Joe Jaynes. “We had a great turnout and our citizens gave us good feedback. The first ‘town hall’ style meeting focused on the section between U.S. 75 and S.H. 121. Our second Public Meeting will focus on the section from S.H. 121 to the east, then south to the Rockwall County line. We hope that all interested citizens will join us.”

Collin County’s population growth, along with private and commercial development, requires future transportation planning. Last October, the Collin County Commissioners Court authorized the Collin County Outer Loop Study. This effort is a continuation of an initial study done in December 2002 for the section west of U.S. 75. The current study area extends from U.S. 75 eastward toward Lake Lavon, then south to the Rockwall County line.

Additional public meetings will be scheduled in the future to offer Collin County residents an opportunity to learn more about the Outer Loop Study so they may offer their feedback. Details about future meetings will be announced in local newspapers, project mailings and on the Collin County website, www.collincountytx.gov.
