Collin County continues to monitor water break; seeks continued aid from residents
(McKinney, TX) - Collin County opened its Emergency Operation
Center earlier today following transmission pipeline failure at the North Texas
Municipal Water District's Water Treatment Plant. Due to favorable reports from
the NTMWD, the EOC will close at 7 p.m. tonight. Until service is fully restored,
residents in the southern and mid-sections of Collin County are asked to assist
with the water situation by only using water for essential needs. Authorities
are asking residents not conduct non-essential services such as running the
dishwasher, watering landscapes and washing the car.
"Citizens should commend their local staff and elected officials, both
cities and county, for their cooperation in helping secure the safety of more
than 600,000 residents," says Collin County Judge Ron Harris, who also
serves as the county's emergency manager.
"From Public Works to the Department of Public Safety, public employees
from across Collin County and North Texas have worked to provide residents with
the resources and information they need to make wise decisions."
