Collin County Commissioners Court appoints Willis to new County-Court-at-Law #6

(McKinney, TX) – The Collin County Commissioners Court appointed attorney Greg Willis to the newly created County-Court-at-Law #6 judgeship on Tuesday.

Willis, who is an employment, criminal and family law attorney in Plano, was selected from 26 applicants for the position.

"Collin County is fortunate to have that number of qualified candidates. It was a very difficult decision," says Collin County Commissioner Phyllis Cole.

"We appreciate the Collin County Bar Association’s assistance with the interview process," says Collin County Judge Ron Harris. "Each candidate was very well qualified."

"I’m so honored by the trust the Commissioners Court has shown in me," says Willis. "I plan to make them and the people of Collin County very proud."

Prior to opening The Willis Law Firm in 1999, Willis served four years as a prosecutor for the Collin County District Attorney. He served as President of the Collin County Bar Association from 2001-2002. He also worked in private practice before joining the district attorney’s office. Willis, named a Texas SuperLawyer 2004 © by Texas Monthly, is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, and an honors graduate of Baylor University.

"I have wanted to be a judge for many, many years. I believe that having both prosecuted and defended criminal cases, as well as having represented clients on all sides of civil matters, will help me be the best judge I can possibly be," says Willis.

Willis is married to Jill, who is also an attorney. They have a six-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter.

Willis will begin his judgeship on October 1st.
