Collin County closes Emergency Operations Center following Hurricane Rita

(McKinney, TX) - Collin County deactivated the Emergency Operations Center today following Hurricane Rita. The county provided a shelter for southeast Texas evacuees over the weekend at the Lake Lavon Baptist Encampment. The last two evacuees will leave the facility today.

Between Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the encampment shelter temporarily housed more than one-hundred persons.

Collin County would like to thank all of the churches, organizations, volunteers and cities for their efforts during the last few weeks.
