Train derails in Copeville; no injuries reported

(Copeville, TX) – A Kansas City Southern train derailed in Copeville at approximately 2 a.m. The incident occurred near Business Route 78 and FM 1778. No injuries are reported, and emergency officials are at the scene. The tanker cars that derailed are empty, and there are no hazardous concerns at this time. The cars once contained petroleum by-products, but there are only residuals in the cars currently. Traffic in this area will be detoured throughout the morning.

Copeville is located in the eastern section of Collin County, just east of Lake Lavon between Farmersville and Nevada.
