Train derailment update
(Copeville, TX) –Investigators have determined that at least one car of a Kansas City Southern train that derailed in Copeville contained chlorine. The incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. near Business Route 78 and FM 1778. No injuries are reported, and there are no spills or leaks. The remaining tanker cars that derailed are empty, and contain some petroleum by-products residuals. Traffic in this area will be detoured throughout the morning.
At least one car is on its side and approximately 10 derailed. Two trains were involved in the incident.
HAZMAT officials are in route to the scene.
Copeville is located in the eastern section of Collin County, just east of Lake Lavon between Farmersville and Nevada.
