Early voting details outlined for Collin County residents

Early voting for the November 8, 2005, General and Special Elections will begin on October 24, 2005 and will end on November 4, 2005. The polls will open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. Extended hours are on Saturday, October 29, 2005 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2005 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday, November 4, 2005 from 7 am to 7 p.m.

The deadline to register to vote for this election is October 11, 2005. Statutory law dictates that all registered voters in Collin County may vote early in person without a designated reason.

Important Note: Eligible Collin County registered voters (with an effective date of registration on or before November 8, 2005) may vote at any of the above early voting locations.

Registered voters who are physically disabled, 65 years of age or older, or those voters who will be absent from the county during the entire early voting period and election day, November 8, 2005 are eligible to vote early by mail. To vote early by mail, a voter may complete an application for a ballot by mail or include information required in an informal letter and send it to the Early Voting Clerk, 2010 Redbud Blvd., Ste. 102, McKinney, Texas 75069, requesting a ballot. The letter must include the reason for voting early, the address where the ballot can be mailed, and the voter’s signature. The deadline for mailing ballots is November 1, 2005. To be counted, the voted ballot must be received by the Elections Administration Office by 7:00 p.m., November 8, 2005. Late rules apply only to ballots being mailed from outside the country.
