Collin County offering flu shots at a reduced cost
(McKinney, TX) -- Collin County Health Care Services will offer flu shots at a reduced cost to ensure that residents are protected before the height of flu season. Beginning Monday, December 19th, the cost for an adult dose will be lowered to $10 and the children’s dose will be lowered to $5.
Currently, the State of Texas is experiencing sporadic influenza activity. “This is similar to last year and is expected to increase in January,” says Collin County nurse epidemiologist Janet Glowicz. “The most effective method of preventing influenza infections is vaccination.”
Flu vaccinations are given Monday through Friday from 8 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 4 pm. Vaccinations are open to all age groups. The health department is located at 825 N. McDonald Street in McKinney. Medicare, Medicaid, and Chip are accepted. Payment can be made with cash or check.
For additional information about this year’s flu vaccine, please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at www.cdc.gov.
