Collin County introduces it’s first Public Art Program
(McKinney, TX) – Collin County will soon provide a venue for local and regional artists to display their work in two county facilities.
The Collin County Commissioners Court has approved a policy that will allow residents to display hanging artwork in the main courthouse, 210 S. McDonald Street in McKinney, and in the University Drive Courts Facility, also in McKinney.
“We’re excited about bringing the talents of our residents into the courthouse,” says Collin County Commissioner Jerry Hoagland. “We feel confident that the art we bring into our buildings will enhance our open space and give citizens and visitors a touch of beauty.”
A Public Art Committee, comprised of community volunteers, elected officials and employees, will meet quarterly to view applications. All art to be displayed in these facilities must either be historically relevant to the region, an architectural enhancement of the facilities’ design or a reflection of the communities and families within Collin County.
Persons interested in displaying artwork may visit the Collin County website
at www.collincountytx.gov
for more information.
