Collin County Heart Healthy Association presents CPR Blowout
(Plano, TX) – The Collin County Heart Healthy Association will present a CPR Blowout on October 16th at the Spring Creek Campus of Collin County Community College. This popular training event can literally help participants save a life. Participants will learn the signs of cardiac arrest and receive hands-on instruction from certified CPR instructors.
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, simply known as “CPR,” was invented in 1960, saving hundreds of thousands of lives since that time. An estimated 75% of cardiac arrests happen at home, with CPR nearly doubling the chance of a victim’s survival and greatly increasing the chances of their returning to a quality productive lifestyle. CPR can be administered on infants, as well as adults. The value of early bystander CPR is that it will help maintain blood flow to the heart and brain until the paramedics arrive.
The class begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for adult non-certification, $5 for pediatric non-certification and $25 for American Heart Association adult/pediatric Healthcare provider certification. Persons may register through Plano Parks and Recreation at 972-941-7250 or 972-941-7540.
CCHHA consists of representatives from the Plano Fire Department, Plano Parks & Recreation Department, Medical Center of Plano, Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, Plano Independent School District, Medical Center of McKinney, Heart Place Plano, Collin County Health Department, Allen Fire-Rescue, Baylor Plano, Will's Drill, Frisco Fire Department and Questcare, which promotes a heart healthy community through education and collaboration with the citizens, businesses, emergency responders and healthcare professionals of Collin County.
