Collin County Tornado Update

(McKinney, TX) – Emergency officials are continuing to assess the damages resulting from last night’s tornado activity. At least one tornado touched-down north of Anna and progressed eastward into the Westminster community in northeast Collin County. Three persons died because of the storm -- Mary Ellen Newsom, 80, Paul Harris Newsom, 82, both of Collin County, and a teenager. (Grayson County emergency officials are the best contact for information regarding the teenager.) Additionally, ten persons were transported to Dallas-area hospitals. Many more sustained minor injuries.

At this point, 26 homes are confirmed to be destroyed with at least six homes sustaining major damage in northern Collin County and southern Grayson County.
