Collin County Tornado Update
Preliminary Data
(McKinney, TX) – PRELIMINARY information from a NOAA analysis rates the tornado activity in the northeastern section of Collin County last night as an F-3. For a well-built home, any removal of inner walls constitutes F3 damage. In the Collin County-Grayson County area of damage, 26 homes are estimated to be destroyed. As with any estimate, please note that numbers can change. PRELIMINARY NOAA field information also suggests that two to three tornado tracks were found. However, the exact locations (distance and width of tracks) have not yet been determined.
Approximately 100 residents in the Westminster area are known to be without power. Crews are working on the situation, and service should be partially restored this afternoon. Complete restoration is expected tomorrow.
