Collin County to assume animal control responsibilities beginning July 5th
(McKinney, TX) – Collin County will assume animal control responsibilities as of July 5th, 2006. Currently, the SPCA of Texas performs animal control in some areas of the county; however, the non-profit organization will now plan to concentrate its efforts on the adoption of pets. As a result, Collin County will manage not only animal control, but also the short-term sheltering of animals.
Collin County will be responsible for all unincorporated areas, as well as the cities of Celina, Fairview, Princeton and Prosper. Any person with emergency issues involving animals inside Collin County may call 972-548-7292, 24 hours a day beginning July 5th.
In September, Collin County will open an animal shelter. Details regarding this project will be announced later this summer.
