County’s Budget Office Recognized for Outstanding Work

(McKINNEY, Texas) – Collin County’s Budget and Finance Department was recently recognized nationally for “meeting the highest principles for governmental budgeting” in its annual presentation on how taxpayers’ dollars are spent locally.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada lauded Collin County last month for publishing a Distinguished Budget Presentation, singling out Assistant Director of Budget & Finance Monika Arris for heading the report’s production.

“Each year, the Budget and Finance Department has taken extra steps to ensure the production of a detailed, quality report,” says Collin County Administrator Bill Bilyeu. “The budget team deserves such an impressive recognition.”

GFOA officials stated that the 480-page report for fiscal year 2007 served as an “excellent example for other governments throughout North America.” The award marked the third year in a row that the county department has been singled out for its budget presentation. The report, along with the Collin County Capital Improvement Program and the Budget-in-Brief can be viewed online at the Budget & Finance Department’s webpage at www.collincountytx.gov.
