Annual Junior Livestock Show Begins January 10th

(McKINNEY) -- The Collin County Junior Livestock Association Show kicks off Wednesday, January 10, 2007, featuring four days of livestock, creative arts, and horticulture competitions here at the Myers Park and Event Center.

Known locally as “The County Show,” the event runs through January 13, 2007, and draws about 5,000 exhibitors, spectators and bidders each year. More than a dozen Collin County school FFA and 4H clubs will be participating in the county show with livestock, arts, crafts and food exhibits.

A sampling of events for the show includes:

• Wednesday, January 10: Horticulture, Goats, Fryers & Breeding Rabbits, and Poultry; Crafts, Clothing, Table Setting & Food exhibits are being held at Collin County Community College, Central Campus, in McKinney.
• Thursday, January 11: Sheep and Swine
• Friday, January 12: Beef Heifers, Shop Projects and Steers
• Saturday, January 13: Barbecue lunch, special awards presentation and premium livestock auction.

Event officials also warn that CR 166 is under construction and that visitors can also enter the park’s north entrance from CR 168.
