Annual Collin County Livestock Show to Begin Jan. 9 at Myers Park

(McKinney, Texas) Jan. 7, 2008 -- The Collin County Junior Livestock Association is pleased to present the annual Collin County Livestock Show Jan. 9-12 at Myers Park & Event Center. The show includes poultry, swine, sheep, goats and cattle judging, plus horticulture and shop projects from 14 Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters representing schools in McKinney, Frisco, Plano, Allen and other districts throughout the county. Also represented at the event are several local 4H chapters.

Participants show their individual entries throughout the week and the show culminates with an auction and barbecue lunch on Saturday. The auction rewards student participants for a year of project development and livestock rearing. The County Show is an entertaining and educational event for the entire family. Admission is free, concessions and tickets for Saturday's barbecue are available at Myers Park.

Wednesday, Jan. 9

• Entries accepted, weigh-in and classification
• Breeding Boer Goats and Market Goats judging and show Horticulture judging

Thursday, Jan. 10

• Sheep, Poultry, Market Swine judging and show

Friday, Jan. 11

• Beef Heifer Judging (Beef Master, Brahman, Brangus, Santa Gertrudis, Simbrah, Other American Breeds, Angus, Hereford, Red Angus, Polled Hereford, Shorthorn, Charolais, Limousin, Maine-Anjou, Simmental, Other registered breeds and commercial Heifers)
• Shop Project Judging
• Steers Judging (American, English, Exotic)

Saturday, Jan. 12

• 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Barbecue Lunch
• 12:30 p.m.: Awards Presentation, Auction
