Collin County's Top Spot for Weddings & Parties Returns
McKINNEY, Texas (Feb. 6, 2008) -- The Landing, a premiere reception hall for private events in Collin County, is back in business. Located at Myers Park & Event Center, The Landing is 6,000 square feet of celebration fun for weddings, family reunions, banquets, business meetings and seminars.
Long a popular spot for weddings in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the original building at Myers Park & Event Center was destroyed by fire in 2006. On Friday, Feb. 8, The Landing will host Collin County's Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, and many bookings have already been made for spring and summer weddings and events.
County Commissioner Joe Jaynes, whose precinct includes Myers Park, says he is thrilled to have the event hall back up and running: "We didn't realize just how many folks are looking for this perfect place to get married or have a party," says the commissioner. "Myers Park is a real jewel, if you haven't been out there - check it out."
The original building didn't have a formal name, so after much consideration, The Landing at Myers Park was chosen as its official name.
"We wanted the building to be rustic yet lend itself to being dressed up for formal occasions or have a casual feel for more laid back celebrations. I think we achieved the goal, the building is versatile and will serve the citizens of Collin County in fine fashion," says Park Manager Linda Dixon.
The Landing features materials native to Texas including Austin stone and cedar posts with a traditional red metal roof. The facility is lodge rustic and lends itself to a variety of celebrations and occasions. A full service kitchen with separate caterer's entrance, dressing rooms for both brides and grooms and a huge stone fireplace complete the amenities. The view from the large northern exposure looks across the rolling landscape of the park highlighting the lake and the gazebo.
Myers Park is northwest of McKinney, just minutes off of U.S. Highway 380 and Lake Forest Drive. To schedule a wedding, seminar, party, banquet or reunion, contact the park staff for a tour. For more information on Myers Park or The Landing, please visit www.myersinfo.com, or call 972-548-4792.
