PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Collin County’s Trash Drop-Off Set for July 12th

(McKinney, TX) – Because of the July Fourth holiday, the folks at Collin County Public Works want to remind residents who plan to drop off trash at the North Texas Municipal Water District's landfill in Melissa that July’s “First Saturday” trash day has been postponed to Saturday, July 12th.

Collin County uses one central trash collection location, just inside the entrance to the NTMWD’s landfill located at 3802 North Hwy. 121 in Melissa. Collin County contracts with the North Texas Municipal Water District's landfill in Melissa to conduct once-a-month cleanup days where any resident of Collin County can bring allowed items for disposal, free of charge. During these one-day events, the county absorbs the cost, but proof of residency -- such as a driver's license or utility bill -- is required. The service is available on the first Saturday of the month (excluding holidays) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Complete instructions, restrictions and schedules for the monthly program are available in the Trash Collection section of the Public Works pages at www.collincountytx.gov, or you can call the county’s Public Works Department at 972-548-3700; Metro: 972-424-1460 Ext. 3700.
