Offices Closed for Memorial Day: All county offices will be closed on Monday, May 29, for the holiday. This includes parks offices, public works, courts and all other administrative offices. Offices will re-open Tuesday, May 30.

Community Service Restitution

Many offenders are required by the Court to perform community service as a condition of supervision. This allows offenders to "give back" to the community and model prosocial behavior. These hours must be worked at non-profit agencies approved by Collin County CSCD. Additionally, the community service assignment must be pre-approved by your supervision officer prior to the commencement of the community service work. This is due, in part, because some agencies have specific requirements related to the performance of community service work (i.e.,age, gender, education, skills, nature of offense). Your supervision officer will have that information available for you. There are a few assignments which may be performed without pre-approval, for any probationer age 18 or older. Those assignments are noted below.

The type of agencies available for completing community service work vary and include things like animal shelters, food pantries, local government departments, substance abuse treatment centers, resale shops, homeless and protective shelters, etc.

Community Service Options Not Requiring Pre-Approval by Supervision Officer

Collin County Animal Services - 4750 Community Ave. McKinney, TX 75071:  please visit the CSCD lobby for an info sheet with specific instructions and a timesheet.  Both can be found in our brochure section.

Collin County Public Works - 700 A. Wilmeth Rd.  McKinney, TX 75069:  you are required to pre-register at their offices prior to your first workday.  Typical workday hours are 7:00 – 3:30.  A timesheet will be provided by this department.

NOTE: Collin County CSCD does not accept any hours from an on-line community service agency or program.

If you have been required to complete community service work unrelated to adult probation or CSCD, please consult the court or agency, which required it, for instructions.  If they direct you to this department for community service ideas you may use either of the agencies above if you are at least 18 years of age.  If you are younger, please call the community service Coordinator.
