Teen Court Award Celebration

Teen Court Appreciation and Award Celebration

On May 1st Teen Court held a volunteer appreciation and awards reception to celebrate and recognize the wonderful service of its volunteers this past school year. Also, in partnership with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the MADD About Crime Scholarship Fund was announced. Henceforth, two scholarships will be given out every year to graduating seniors who have shown exceptional dedication to Teen Court.

Commissioner Phyllis Cole gave the keynote address.
 
Tracy Huang of Plano Senior High School was awarded one of the MADD About Crime Scholarships. Tracy served as the Chief Defender this past year and is headed to Amherst University in the fall.
 
 
Vishal Chanani of Plano Senior High School was awarded one of the MADD About Crime Scholarships. Vishal served as the Chief Prosecutor this past year and is headed to Princeton University in the fall.
 
Adult volunteers (left to right) Nina Ringley, Susan Russell, and Susan Tull were recognized and thanked for their contributions to the program.
 
 
Divyesh Patel (right) was named the 2007-2008 Chief Prosecutor by Vishal Chanani. Divyesh will be a junior at Plano Senior High School this fall.
 
Emily Kaufman (right) was named the 2007-2008 Chief Defender by Tracy Huang. Emily will be a senior at Frisco Centennial High School this fall.
 
AJ Groce (right) was given the award for Outstanding Prosecutor by Vishal Chanani. AJ will be a sophomore at McKinney Boyd High School in the fall.
 
Corbin Ringley (right) was given the award for Outstanding Defense Attorney by Tracy Huang. Corbin will be a sophomore at McKinney High School this fall.
 
Travis Linblom was given the award for being an Outstanding Juror. Travis will be a sophomore at Allen High School this fall.
 
Andrew Russell was given a certificate of appreciation for his service to Teen Court as its bailiff and recognized for winning the outstanding bailiff award at the North Texas Teen Court Summit earlier this year. Andrew is a sergeant of the Sheriff's Explorer Post and will be a senior at McKinney High School in the fall.
