Collin County is proud to announce the appointment of Brigadier General John “Mike” Wallace to the Collin County Planning Board. A seasoned business executive and military leader, Wallace brings more than 26 years of experience in business development, investment banking, securities investments, and retirement planning, in addition to his extensive leadership in the Texas Army National Guard.

In his professional career, Wallace serves as the National Sales Director and Owner of 401 Plans, one of the nation's premier providers of retirement solutions. His leadership at 401 Plans has been instrumental in offering comprehensive 401k and retirement planning services to businesses and employees nationwide. Through his strategic oversight, 401 Plans has designed tailored retirement solutions for thousands of clients nationwide, helping them achieve financial security and long-term success.

Wallace’s business acumen is complemented by his distinguished military career. A Brigadier General in the Texas Army National Guard, Wallace has over 33 years of leadership and management experience in military operations, human capital, and strategic planning. He is the Assistant Division Commander of the historic 36th Infantry Division and has previously commanded the 56th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. Wallace's military service includes deployments to Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, where he has led troops in key leadership positions as a Company Commander and Battalion Executive Officer.

His combination of business and military experience makes Wallace an ideal fit for the Collin County Planning Board, which is tasked with managing land use, infrastructure development, and long-term growth in one of the fastest-growing regions in Texas.

"I am honored to serve on the Collin County Planning Board," said Wallace. "This is a unique opportunity to bring my experience in both business and military leadership to bear on issues that directly impact our community. I look forward to working with my fellow board members to ensure Collin County remains a great place to live, work, and grow."

Collin County Commissioner for Precinct 3, Darrell Hale, also expressed his confidence in Wallace's appointment, stating, "I have been privileged to know General Mike Wallace for over ten years. He will give strong advice and bring the character of service that we seek on the planning board."

Wallace’s impressive background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he majored in International History, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His military education includes the U.S. Army Ranger School, Command and General Staff College, and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School, among others. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, among many others.

Wallace has been a resident of Allen, TX for more than 20 years, where he lives with his wife Debbie, and their three sons. His commitment to public service, his extensive leadership experience, and his passion for supporting his community make him a valuable addition to the Collin County Planning Board.
