Voter Registration/Elections Clerk

 Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Voter Registration/Elections Clerk.  This position assists the Elections department by serving as the 1st line of contact in answering and directing incoming calls, greeting and assisting the public, accepting payments, writing receipts, deputizing voter registrars and processing mail.  Performs related duties by entering data into the computer system, processing voter registration applications, maintaining contact with voting precincts during elections, performing word processing projects, mapping locations, and assisting with early voting activities.  Performs related duties as assigned.  Work is performed under the direction of a Voter Registration Coordinator.

Candidates must have the knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, and office processes.  No experience required.  Excellent verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor are highly preferred.  Must be able to pass a typing test at the rate of at least 35 words a minute. Must have a level of education equivalent to four years of high school.

Temporary – Elections

Collin County has an immediate need for On-Call Temporary Pool personnel to work in the upcoming primary election (January – March) and the general election (September – November).   On-Call Temporary Pool employees assigned to Elections will assist with basic office functions, perform data entry, answer phones, sort mail, and assist voters as needed.  

Candidates must be available to work as follows:

  • Mid-September through mid-November; Monday – Friday, from 8am – 5pm

These dates and work schedules are NOT flexible; if you are unavailable during those days/times, please do not apply.   

The Elections assignment works normal business hours between 8am – 5pm in the time leading up to Early Voting.  Some hours outside that schedule may be necessary during Early and Regular Voting.  Number of hours worked will vary, but will generally be 40 hours per week for the duration of the assignment.  On-Call Temp pool employees may be offered other assignments throughout the year as well.

A level of education equivalent to four years of high school resulting in a diploma is required.  Candidates must be able to pass a typing test at a minimum rate of 35 words per minute.  Prior office support experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer is a plus.
