A 71-year-old Plano man died Tuesday at a local hospital, diagnosed with an underlying health condition and COVID-19, according to a report received by Collin County Health Care Services today. Out of respect for his family, no further personal information is being released.

As of this afternoon, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) reported 3,321 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Collin County, with 2,583 of those individuals reported to have recovered.

This is the 46th fatality of a county resident with COVID-19 reported to county health authorities.

DSHS assumed all new case reporting and contact tracing for Collin County on June 1. Total figures for active cases in Collin County are a blend of state-generated reports, plus any active cases before June 1 that the county is still overseeing. Because the county receives death reports from local sources sooner than the state does, county health authorities will continue to report COVID-19 related deaths.
