Local Administrative District Judge Benjamin Smith is accepting applications from citizens who wish to serve on the Collin County Appraisal Review Board (CCARB). This board hears and decides property-owner protests of appraised values assessed by the Collin Central Appraisal District (CCAD). CCARB also has other powers and duties, which are described in the Tax Code Ch. 41.
Board members must attend training and meetings in addition to serving on three-member hearing panels. Although time commitments will vary, members must be available to serve every day, including Saturdays. Membership typically demands a full-time commitment during the summer and fall months. Board members will receive a per diem for each day the board meets.
Applicants must be Collin County residents who have resided in the county for at least two years. See Tax Code Sec. 6.412 for detailed eligibility requirements.
Applications must be received by Nov. 12. Applicants selected as finalists will be contacted for interviews. Once appointed, new board members will begin work in January.
Applications may be obtained by contacting the CCAD main office at 469-742-9200, or the CCAD Taxpayer Liaison Officer, Michele Lake, at 469-742-9215.
Once completed, submit applications to:
