For Immediate Release:

On November 3, 2020 at approximately 4:45pm, Collin County Sheriff's Office patrol deputies were dispatched to 15335 County Road 558 in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival deputies located the body of 32-year-old Leeroy Rogers, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Deputies interviewed witnesses at the scene who stated that 31-year-old Alfred Olivo shot Rogers and fled the scene. Deputies also learned that Olivo and Rogers were acquaintances.

In an attempt to locate Olivo, Collin County Investigators initiated a statewide BOLO. At approximately 7:45pm, Officers with the New Boston, Texas Police Department observed Olivo traveling eastbound on Interstate 30 and attempted a traffic stop. Olivo failed to stop and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended near Texarkana, Texas where Olivo was taken into custody without incident. A weapon was recovered from inside the vehicle.

Collin County Investigators traveled to Texarkana and interviewed Olivo, who confessed to killing Rogers.

Olivo is currently being held in the Bi-State Detention Center on a $750,000.00 bond.

Sheriff Jim Skinner stated, "Alfred Olivo was captured within hours of this killing because of the collaboration of several North Texas law enforcement agencies who came together in a swift, seamless and coordinated fashion. We appreciate our law enforcement partners and are grateful for their dedication and professionalism."

The agencies assisting in this investigation are the police departments from New Boston, Rockwall and Farmersville, the Texas Rangers, Collin County Constable Gary Edwards, and the Bowie County Sheriff's Office.
