The main goal of T.A.I.P. is to provide treatment to
people whose criminal activity is related primarily to their substance
abuse, so that jails and prisons can be used for violent offenders and
career criminals who present the most danger to their communities.
T.A.I.P. provides the following for indigent offenders
with significant substance abuse:
- Screening
- Assessment and referral
- Outpatient treatment
CSCD supervision officers provide screening, assessment,
and referral for T.A.I.P. initiative to the target population. All misdemeanor
and felony offenders with substance abuse offenses are screened for substance
abuse, with the administration of the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening
Inventory (SASSI).
