Passports

​​​​Collin County District Clerk's Office is now accepting passport applications (DS-11 forms only) on behalf of the United States Department of State by appointment and walk-ins (only on Wednesdays).

Know Before You Go

To help ensure your visit goes smoothly and efficiently, please review the Passport Application Checklist prior to your appointment.

  • Appointments: Customers are able to schedule appointments online and we encourage appointments to be made as all appointments will be given priority over walk-ins. To schedule your appointment please visit our appointments page.

  • Walk-ins are now available Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. This provides a flexible alternative for those that are not able to schedule an appointment time of their choosing.

  • Planning: Please arrive at Passport office 15 minutes before scheduled appointment with the DS-11 application already filled out. We cannot process adult renewal applications (DS-82).

    • Documentation:

      All original birth certificates must be submitted with the applications. Please note that most abstract/short Texas and California versions of birth certificates may not be acceptable for passport purposes.

      Please see below for requirements of U.S. birth certificate:

      • Issued by the city, county, or state of birth
      • Lists your full name, date of birth, and place of birth
      • Lists your parent(s)' full names
      • Has the date filed with registrar's office (must be within one year of birth)
      • Has the registrar's signature
      • Has the seal of the issuing authority

  • Passport Photo: A passport photo can be taken on-site for $16 cash, debit or credit.

  • Fees:

    • Application Fee and any Optional Service Fees:

      Each application must have its own personal in-state check (no temporary) or money order payable to the “U.S. Department of State”.

    • Execution Fee:

      There is a $35 Execution Fee, to be paid separately by cash, debit or credit to the “Collin County District Clerk”.

Application Processing Time

Upon arrival, the actual application process typically takes 15 - 20 minutes per applicant. Please note that discrepancies and missing documentation will result in processing delays or, ultimately, our inability to process the application.

If you have urgent travel to a foreign country in the next 14 calendar days, or need a foreign visa in the next 28 calendar days, please reach out to the National Passport Information Center at (877) 487-2778 (TDD: (888)874-7793) to schedule an appointment with the nearest regional passport facility.
