Body

Collin County is excited to introduce Kaleb Breaux as the new Elections Administrator, succeeding Bruce Sherbet, who retired in December after nine years of dedicated service. Kaleb brings a wealth of experience, a profound respect for the election process, and an inspiring commitment to public service. His journey to this role highlights not just his expertise, but also his passion for maintaining elections that are transparent, accessible, and trustworthy.

The decision to appoint Kaleb as Elections Administrator was a unanimous one, made by the Collin County Elections Commission, which includes County Judge Chris Hill, County Clerk Stacey Kemp, Tax Assessor-Collector Scott Grigg, and the chairs of both the Republican and Democratic parties in Collin County. His unanimous appointment is a testament to Kaleb’s qualifications and the trust he has earned across the political spectrum.

His journey into election administration began in 2006, when Jefferson County’s Clerk, Carolyn Guidry, hired him as an elections coordinator. With a background in journalism, he was initially tasked with designing ballots. However, it wasn’t long before he was captivated by the complexity of election work and the camaraderie required to meet its challenges. “Through the years, I have come to love the challenges that elections bring and the people who resolve those challenges,” he shares.

Since then, Kaleb has built a career spanning both government and the private sector. With 12 years in public service and 7 years working for an election vendor, he brings a rare perspective to the role. “The knowledge I’ve gained from both sides and the relationships I’ve built along the way have sharpened me for this role,” he reflects. “At this point, I feel like I’ve done a little bit of everything—but I’m sure that will change.”

As he steps into his new position, Kaleb is quick to credit his predecessor, Bruce Sherbet, for leaving the department in excellent shape. “I don’t feel a need to completely change any one of our processes just to say, ‘I did that.’ Instead, I’m looking forward to making small tweaks to improve efficiency and excellence.” Kaleb is particularly eager to address issues like poll worker recruitment, public awareness of the election process, and enhanced training programs.

One of Kaleb’s key priorities is building trust in the elections process, an area where his background in public relations will serve him well. He’s inspired by innovative programs like an election academy launched in Guadalupe County, which educates citizens about election procedures. “I hope to borrow that model and create something similar here in Collin County, not only for concerned citizens but also for poll workers,” he explains.

A Louisiana native, Kaleb has called North Texas home since 2013, settling in Melissa with his wife, Jenni, and their four children: Ella (20), Kamden (15), Carolina (11), and Norah (7). “We love North Texas,” he shares. “We’ve planted roots here and couldn’t be happier.” Outside of work, Kaleb enjoys playing golf and attending concerts with Jenni, who works for Melissa ISD.
