Collin County Health Care Services is warning the public of a confirmed case of measles involving an individual who visited several public locations in Plano while infectious on April 10 and 11, 2025.
The individual visited three local retail locations during this time, potentially exposing others to the highly contagious virus. Measles can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person has left the area.
Health officials urge anyone who visited the following locations during the listed times to review their vaccination status and monitor for symptoms:
Walmart (6001 N. Central Expy, Plano)
April 10 (time unknown)
April 11, 9:00 PM–1:00 AM
Ross Dress for Less (3300 N. Central Expy, Plano)
April 11, 5:00–10:00 PM
Dollar Tree (2404 K Ave., Plano)
April 11 (evening, exact time unknown)
If you are unvaccinated, immunocompromised, or pregnant and were at these locations during the exposure windows, you are strongly encouraged to contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Common symptoms of measles include fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, conjunctivitis (pink eye), and a distinct blotchy rash.
Collin County officials are working closely with the Texas Department of State Health Services to monitor and respond to the situation.
