Collin County will recognize the vital role of jurors during Jury Appreciation Week, observed May 4–8, 2026, following an official proclamation by the County Judge.

Jury Appreciation Week, established by the Texas Legislature, honors the thousands of citizens who dedicate their time to serve in the judicial system. The proclamation highlights that jury service is both a fundamental right and a cornerstone of American democracy, ensuring the protection of liberties and the fair administration of justice.

The week begins with a high-volume jury day on Monday, May 4. As of this release, more than 500 prospective jurors are expected to report to the courthouse, with additional panels scheduled throughout the day. Officials note that final attendance numbers may fluctuate.

Courthouse Advisory for Monday, May 4

Due to the anticipated turnout, individuals reporting for jury service or conducting business at the courthouse are encouraged to plan ahead:

  • Arrive early to allow extra time for parking and security screening
  • The courthouse opens at 7:00 a.m.; arrival between 7:00–8:00 a.m. is recommended to reduce wait times
  • Expect increased traffic and longer lines during peak hours

Security and Dress Code Reminders

Metal water bottles and metal containers are not permitted through security

Jurors must adhere to dress guidelines including:

  • No shorts, uniforms, skorts, or tank tops
  • Attire should be appropriate for a professional setting
County officials also encourage members of the judiciary and community leaders to personally thank jurors for their service during the week.

“Jurors play an essential role in upholding justice in our community,” the proclamation notes, emphasizing that their contributions are critical to the integrity of the legal system and the preservation of democratic values.
